Background
In 1990, the collision repair industries first value-added programs began and Steve Trapp, a LEAP founder was one of the pioneers. In 1992, the first 20-group (Performance Group) was formed and began sharing financial information and process improvement ideas within the trade. Today, every paint company offers a value-added program and 20-groups for their customers. Further, the idea has been extended as many larger MSO groups and Franchise organizations operate their own 20-groups for personal growth and financial result improvements.
Impact
These groups have helped many members improve their operating profit by 1-5% annually, as process refinements are implemented post meeting based on thier action plans. Further, many of the founders of these groups were the foundation of the industies MSO operations or were able to sell with a higher multiple and retire in a more favorable position
